Joseph McBride discusses John F. Kennedy and the 1960 Primary

We are delighted to present an exclusive Q&A with Joseph McBride, who kindly agreed to talk to us as part of our U.S. election season. McBride is a film historian and associate professor in the Cinema department at San Francisco State University.

In 1960 he worked on John F. Kennedy’s primary campaign as a sprightly twelve-year-old, revisiting the 1960s with his 2013 book on the assassination of the president, Into the Nightmare: My Search for the Killers of President John F. Kennedy and Officer J. D. Tippit.

This exclusive Q&A was intended to follow our screening of Robert Drew’s documentary, Primary, cancelled due to unforeseen global circumstances, and makes for fascinating viewing for historians, film scholars and documentary filmmakers.
