Volunteering with IFT

As an independent non-profit cinema IFT runs on the goodwill and efforts of its volunteers.
We are always looking for new people (aged over 18) to join our friendly team in a range of roles. As well as the obvious perks (free films !), if you are 26 or over you are entitled to a Free Friends Card (enabling you to save £1 on film tickets anytime) after SIX ushers shifts (or equivalent) each year.

Contact film@iftt.co.uk for further details.

The dates for the next sets of usher training are:
Thursday 5th December 2019 at 6pm

Ushers

We have volunteer ushers staffing all our screenings to provide a warm welcome to customers and fulfill our Health & Safety commitments. There is an online sign-up system so you can opt into as many or as few shifts as suits you. You get to see a free film with a free coffee during your shift. Full training is provided so all you need to be is reliable and have a responsible attitude.

Brochure Distribution

Even in these days of the internet and social media, our print brochure is still vital in making people aware of what’s on at IFT so we are always looking to get it into more locations. We currently have volunteers delivering to Ipswich Town Centre and Woodbridge so if you live or work in the outskirts of Ipswich or surrounding towns and villages and are happy to make a regular commitment (currently every 5 weeks) please let us know.
If you wanted to take just a handful to distribute at an event or workplace please feel free.

Volunteer Voices

“I joined 7 years ago and it changed my life. Not only do I see most of the best films around but some of the most challenging intellectually and visually stimulating”

“You get to enjoy a complimentary cup of the best coffee in town”

“As a lover of all things film, volunteering at IFT is a wonderful experience. Not only knowing that you are helping to keep independent cinema alive in Ipswich, but also being able to talk with fellow film lovers and serving appreciative audiences time after time. It’s a real privilege.”

“I originally started volunteering at IFT over 7 years ago to see films that I may not have chosen to go and see and can honestly say that this has been a rewarding experience. I also enjoy the chat with other ushers before the audience arrive and the appreciation that our customers show us.”
